AlanJames Burns is a neurodivergent, environmental and audiovisual artist, curator and festival maker. They produce highly collaborative interactive, socially-engaged and site-specific projects. The focal points of their artistic practice are disability, the climate emergency and a just society.
Their projects include: The Waking Walls, a caoineadh of ecological and climate grief, Cloughoughter Castle 2023 & Dublin Fringe 2026; Divergently Together, 2024-2026, a national Creative Ireland and Research Ireland climate action project exploring the climate crisis through disability perspectives; Our Place, 2023-2025, a socially engaged project co-designed alongside adults with intellectual disabilities, Sinead McCann, Saint John of God and Carlow Arts Festival; Artistic Director of Disrupt Disability Arts Festival, taking place annually at Project Arts centre in Dublin and online.
