Bio: Shane Finan assembles artworks from interactive contemporary technologies, found objects, and traditional artistic media. His practice is rooted in rural environments and examines the entanglements between human and nonhuman technologies.

Project Description: 'CPR' by Shane Finan (he/them) is an artwork that considers the entanglement of life and technology in the ocean, drawing from the experiences of plankton.

The Continuous Plankton Recorder is a data sensor that has been counting plankton numbers across the world since 1931. The data helps researchers understand climate change, ocean acidification, the spread of microplastics and many other complex things.

Drawing from historical and contemporary data from the CPR and the Marine Institute of Ireland, Shane's artwork is an interactive installation that invites visitors to touch water and play sounds
